A particularly interesting exhibition on account of the juxtaposition of portraits of
famous political figures, like Aldo Moro, figures from the world of entertainment,
like Alberto Sordi and Asia Argento, portraits of famous film directors like Dario
Argento and Ferzan Özpetek, as well as portraits of members of the Roman
aristocracy like Maria Pace Odescalchi, Claudia Ruspoli, and many more, including
a portrait of Italo Benedetti (whose poems based on the paintings also feature in the
exhibition). Claudio Strinati, in his precise analysis of Maugeri’s work, writes:
“…Maestro Maugeri’s work is dominated by a sovereign sense of harmony and
impeccable execution, so that, thanks to his superb technical skill, his paintings give
the observer the idea that the overall creation has been perfectly executed.”
