Our experience of space travel beyond our
planet exerted a strong influence on a whole
generation of designers in the late 1960s:
futuristic creations from Japan and electronic
space-age products finally appear in a book.
The Triennale Design Museum presents a
selection of more than 60 table-lamps,
designed and produced in the years of the
late ‘60s and early ’70s, at a time that was rechristened
by design historians as the “Space
Age".

The lamps, which come from
international collections, show that production
of such objects was widespread, with
anonymous models that could be produced
cheaply, but also pieces created by great
designers like Joe Colombo, Vico Magistretti,
Gino Sarfatti & Giotto Stoppino.
