Kawaii is a word which goes back to the seventies in Japan when some schoolgirls adopted this term to describe everything which, to them, appeared to be cute and which also represented a form of pacific rebellion against the system.

One couldn't imagine that this word, after becoming a popular Japanese and visual trend, would cross frontiers and would become an artistic point of reference for thousands of artists all ovet the world.

Many of us feel an irresistible attraction for anything cute. This is not just down to visual perception but also a personal experience which on many occasions transforms un into kawaiiaddicts: we collect objects, we surf the Net in search of characters and we even come up with our own creations, under the influence of this movement.
