The only exhibition that celebrates Armani's thirty years in fashion, including the latest collection of Guggheneim Museum in New York. The most comprehensive retrospective ever, located in an area of 3.000 square metres by the international artist and designer Robert Wilson.
This catalogue outlines the principal components of Giorgio Armani's career, divided in richly illustrated sections: his relationship with Hollywood stars, such as Meryl Streep, Richard Gere, Wynona Rider etc, his styles (minimal, ethnic, androgynous), his feminine re-interpretation of men clothing and the creation of sensual menswear, his inspiration derived from vintage fashion and from other cultures (Chinese, Indian and Polynesian).
All the texts - comprising a foreword by Thomas Krens, director of Guggenheim Museum, an introduction by Germano Celant and the essays in each section - are illustrated with a great number of images including his sketches, pictures from his fashion shows and promotional campaigns, celebrities portraits, and photograms from the films, such as American Gigolò and The Aviator, for which Armani designed the costumes.
