The tale of the artistic experiment Photomatic by Franco Vaccari, exponent of the current known as "relational art", in 1972 at the Venice Biennial. Ahead of his time, Franco Vaccari created a series of action-events that seem to resurface today in the work of young contemporary artists, especially in all those initiatives that can be defined as "relational art".
The book offers thorough documentation of the action "Leave a photographic trace of your passage on these walls", at the Venice Biennial in 1972, where Vaccari placed an automatic ID photo machine at the center of a room: visitors to the exhibition were encouraged to enter the Photomatic, take a series of pictures and hang the long "strip" of self-portraits on the walls of the space.
