Carsten Holler was born in Brussels in 1961 and now resides in Stockholm. He sees art as a cognitive instrument and uses his works to transform our senory and emotional experience. He loves to provoke viewers by distorting their habitual mechanisms of perception--thus the room full of giant upside-down mushrooms, which he dscribes as a "generator of rapture and delight."
Holler has taken part in all the major international art exhibitions and has produced collaborative works with other contemporary artists, including Maurizio Cattelan and Rosemarie Trockel.
