An elegant and well-presented publication, Photographs to listen to provides a fascinating insight into Orsi's work, including his great technical ability, in particular his handling of lenses and exposures.
Born in Milan in 1941, Carlo Orsi began his professional career as an assistant to Ugo Mulas. From working as a news photographer, he moved into the fashion world in the late sixties. In the eighties he worked in advertising for companies such as Ducati, Marlboro, and Swatch. Orsi's photography is infused with a sense of his culture, making subtle references to cinema, and art history.
His personality, is also revealed through his photography, reflecting his intelligence and love of irony, and the cinema.
