Karate for Children Vol. 1 - Basics is the first comprehensive book written especially for children and is enhanced by over 200 colour photographs and illustrations. Written in simple English, it sets out to answer questions asked by young people everywhere. Forty basic techniques are covered in detail, each one photographed with adequate text to explain how to perform each movement, and a step by step format building to the completion of the technique.

With 80 per cent of students practising Karate today being children, the need for a children's book was obvious and long overdue. Written in simple English, it sets out to answer the many questions asked by young people everywhere. Achieving this through delightfully illustrated short stories, each with its own important metaphors, is one of the book's strengths.

All the techniques have been photographed using young people who are practising Karate-ka, and whose grades range from Blue Belt (4th kyu) to Brown Belt (1st kyu). In all, forty basic techniques are covered in detail. Each one is shown in an easy to follow, step by step format, building to the completion of the technique.

Adequate text explains in simple terms how to perform each movement, and this is enhanced by a 'helpful hints' section. Applications (Bunkai) are dealt with separately throughout."Karate for Children Vol. 1 - Basics" is the first comprehensive book written especially for children and is enhanced by over 200 colour photographs and illustrations.
